Another great way to track your site’s SEO standings is by implementing the free Google Webmaster Tools. This tool allows you to gather data on visibility in Google. You can track keywords that people are Googling to find your site, page load speeds and pages that have errors.

Follow these simple steps to set it up for your website:
- Login to Google Webmaster Tools with your Google email address.
- Click the “Add a Site” button at the upper right-hand of the page and enter your website’s URL.
- For verification, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the verification process. You create a TXT record in the DNS configuration settings on your webhost where your website is hosted. This can be a bit tricky if you are unfamiliar with DNS. For most hosts, you can follow these, or similar, steps:
- Login your cPanel
- Select “Advanced Zone Editor”
- Select your domain and then create a new DNS entry with the following details:
- Name: Your domain name followed by a period (yourdomain.com.)
- TTS: 3600
- Type: TXT
- TXT Data: Paste in the verification code from Webmaster Tools.
- Begin letting Google collect your data and review. Make sure you take care of any errors that are shown and track the keywords that are working the best.
